The Simple Ways to Wealth with Mindful Living
Last month I spent $448 on food and grocery, I bought plenty of things we needed. In the time when food prices are rising steeply and some people are buying less and eating less, my family still enjoy a life of abundance, even though I have been cutting back on our food budget.
I reviewed where and how much and what I spent in May for my family, which includes 2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby, and 2 cats, and listed some of the things I bought below :
Trader Joe’s: $80
I bought 3 bottles of tequila, 2 bottles of triple sec, 2 6-pack beers, and a few other things.
As some of you have known, we drink Margaritas almost every night, or wine or beer. My hubby is getting very good at making great Margaritas.
Foods Co: $185
I bought most of meat and dairy products and vegetables there. Some of the things I bought:
1.Fruit: 2 watermelon, $0.20/LB; 4 pounds of strawberries, $1.25/LB, 2 pounds of peaches, $0.87/LB; 3 pounds of bananas, $0.68/LB; 1 cantaloupe, $0.33/LB.
2.Meat:10 pounds of Chicken breast with ribs attached, $0.87/LB; 9 pounds of pork spareribs, $1.27/LB; 10 pounds of pork country style strips, $0.97/LB; 3 pounds of London broil steak, $1.67/LB;…
3.Vegetables: 6 bunches of spinach, $0.58/each; 8 corns, $0.25/each; 3 lettuces, $0.58/each;…
Safeway: $67
I’m getting to like to shop in Safeway when I see good deals. I bought 3 whole chickens for $0.67 per pound, 2 London broil steaks for $1.97 per pound, 10 pounds of pork country style ribs for $0.99 per pound, and 12 mangos for $0.25 each.
Walgreens: $25
I bought 10 bags of Dentek easy angle floss picks for $14.95 total on sale. We love Dentek easy angle floss picks, they work great, and usually cost more than $3 per bag, and now I probably have enough for a year.
Costco: $$83
2 bags of french roast coffee beans: $10.99 each. 1 box of baby wipes: $12.49. 1 box of Splenda: $14.95. 1 bag of dried cat food: $11.99.
Farmer’s Market: $8
I bought 8 bunches of different kinds of geen leaf vegetables.
How much do you spend on food and grocery per month?
If you know the answer to this question, then you have made your first step to wealth: Track Expenses & Income. While I was wondering how much others spend on food, I came across Lynnae’s post: Grocery Shopping For A Month. Her budget was similar to mine, yet ‘most of her meals are based around dried beans’, while mine are mostly meat and veggies because my hubby prefers Atkins’ diet. If you don’t mind sharing your food budget with us, feel free to do so in the comment below.
