“Look! How many eggs I found!”

This Easter my lucky girl, Katrina, had 3 egg hunt events. She had a lot of fun. The first one was in a friend’s garden. She has a big yard, a perfect place for a few kids to run around and to hunt for eggs. There were five Moms, and we all brought some stuffed plastic eggs and some baked goodies to share. The kids stayed indoors while the eggs were being scattered in the garden. They had plenty of room to run. After they found all the eggs, they blew bubbles on the deck. Moms went inside and sat down together and chatted and ate. We all had a lot of fun.

The second egg hunt was held by a parents’ group. It was a little crowded and a little too easy for them to find eggs.

It’s a beautiful day to hunt eggs in such big field.

The third egg hunt was held in a great grandfather’s house. His family has made such wonderful ritual to host Easter egg hunt every year and invites a lot of kids in the neighborhood to come. There is a big vacant field in front of his house where the eggs were hid. It was a good walk in the field to help Katrina to find eggs. We all brought something to share. There were a lot of food. The host even prepared Mimosa, what a treat!

For next Easter

1.Attend an Easter egg hunt event with your kids. Better yet, organize one with your friends and neighbors. It’s great to make each holiday special. Plan ahead, Anjali has great ideas for Easter egg hunt, I like her idea of Hop N Hunt-”Make the kids hop around to hunt for the eggs.” That’s a great idea for them to get plenty of exercise. And another great idea of hers for a big group of kids is Checklist Easter egg hunt-”Give each child a basket with a checklist and pencil in it, and instruct the kids to find ONLY what is on their checklist and no more (otherwise someone else would not get enough).”

2.Put away the plastic eggs for next year. It’s cheap to buy new eggs. But it’s just a little effort to put them away and to be kind to the earth. Well, Katrina got at least 3 dozen eggs, so I was more motivated to put them away for next time.

3.Collect some small toys to stuff eggs for next year. Your kids have small toys all the time, and we tend to throw them away when they get tired of them. Instead of throwing them away, save them for next Easter egg hunt to stuff eggs. It’s great that they get to swap toys that way.
