” Can I buy this?” asked Katrina. “Yes.” said I.

” I want to buy this .” 2 minutes later she showed me something else. ” No.” said I.

” Can I buy this?” another minute later she asked for another item. I maybe said yes or no.

Apart from continual decision making in my own shopping, I had to make constant decision about her wants. When we got home, often I got mad at her and myself for letting her buying things that I would not have bought if I shopped alone.

Sometimes I try to go shopping without her. Most of times I do take her shopping to get her away from TV or to give her Dad a little bit time off.

I set three rules:

1. She doesn’t always get to buy things.

2. She can only buy one thing.

3. I have to approve its price.

I let her know the rules. It has been working pretty well. If I say that it costs too much money, she will put it down and look for something else.
